about

Saxophone, Woodwind Quartet, Saxophone Quartet - Advanced Intermediate

Item Number: S0.41049

While knowing for some time that I wanted to write for the medium of saxophone quartet, I had not found the right inspiration for the work until I had reread the story of “The Writing on the Wall” in the Bible, found in the book of Daniel. In Hebrew the writing on the wall is, “Mene, Mene, Tekel, U’pharsin.” Each movement is based on the meaning of the words from the writing on the wall, employing various compositional techniques such as palindromic writing, dynamic and scalar interplay, and extended instrumental techniques to convey as much identity with the biblical story as possible. To listen to the work visit my site: www.anthonybannach.com/audiovideo.html.
